World Cup 2010 Calendar Finalized

The World Cup 2010 Calendar has been finalized with the victories of The Netherlands and Spain, respectively against Uruguay and Germany. On Saturday 10th Uruguay is going to face Germany in Port Elizabeth to define who is going to be 3rd and who 4th.

No matter what the result is going to be, the players, coach and staff of the Uruguayan team are awaited on Monday in their country for a big reception at the government: they are among the 4 best teams in the world!

Everybody was expecting Brazil or Argentina among them, but the smallest country made it into the finals. Last time Uruguay entered the finals was in 1970 and in 1930 and 1950 they won the World title. It looks like the years with a “0” are good years for them.

Germany was expecting to play in Johannesburg on Sunday 11th July, but their expectations were not met, as they lost against Spain. Somebody says, that the octopus Paul has already been roasted for this! In 2006 when they played at home it was Italy, that stopped them from breaking through. They lost 2-0. This time it was Spain, that spoiled their dream of the final by winning 1-0.

Whatever happens on the night of the 11th July, it can already be said, that a team, that has never won the World Cup will win. Of course it is one of the two: either The Netherlands or Spain.

No matter what the result is going to be, the players, coach and staff of the Spanish team are already considered heroes, as they have never been able to get that far in 80 years of World Cup’s history. If they win the title the whole country will party for the next coming 80!

This is the third time, that The Netherlands are in the finals, but up to now they have never won. In 1974 they lost against Germany 2-1 and in 1978 against Argentina 3-1.  Who knows if this time they are going to make it? If they are, they will also be the only team winning all  matches..

The World Cup 2010 calendar is finalized, but until Sunday 11th July it is not known, what the order of the 4 remaining teams is going to be.
